WHERE WE FIND THEM
Grouper are commonly found around reefs, wrecks, ledges, artificial reefs, and hard-bottom structure throughout the Gulf. Around Orange Beach, they spend much of their time close to cover where they can ambush baitfish and avoid predators.
HOW WE CATCH THEM
We use a variety of techniques depending on conditions, but these are our go-to methods:
- Bottom fishing around reefs and wrecks
- Live bait fishing near structure
- Deep dropping natural baits
- Vertical jigging around offshore ledges
Captain's Tip
“The moment a Grouper bites, it’s a race to keep him out of the structure. Hit him hard and keep the pressure on.”
Capt. Justin Walker
