Flounder
THE MASTER OF AMBUSH
Flounder spend most of their lives hidden on the bottom, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Found throughout the bays, passes, and backwaters around Orange Beach, they’re one of the most sought-after inshore fish for anglers who appreciate a challenge—and a great meal.

WHERE WE FIND THEM
Around Orange Beach, Flounder are commonly found near sandy bottoms, creek mouths, docks, channels, passes, and current breaks where baitfish are pushed through the area.
HOW WE CATCH THEM
We use a variety of techniques depending on conditions, but these are our go-to methods:
- Live bait fishing along the bottom
- Soft plastic lures worked slowly near structure
- Drifting channels and sandy drop-offs
- Targeting current breaks and creek mouths
Captain's Tip
“Flounder are ambush predators. Slow down your presentation and keep your bait close to the bottom—that’s where they live.”
Capt. Justin Walker
