WHERE WE FIND THEM
Amberjack are commonly found around reefs, wrecks, oil rigs, artificial reefs, and other offshore structures throughout the northern Gulf. Around Orange Beach, they are often targeted around deep structure where baitfish are abundant.
HOW WE CATCH THEM
We use a variety of techniques depending on conditions, but these are our go-to methods:
- Live bait fishing around reefs and wrecks
- Vertical jigging near offshore structure
- Dropping live baits around deep structure
- Fishing around oil rigs and artificial reefs
Captain's Tip
“The first few seconds are everything. Once an Amberjack gets its head down and reaches the structure, the odds shift in the fish’s favor.”
Capt. Justin Walker
