WHERE WE FIND THEM
Around Orange Beach, Black Drum are commonly found near bridges, docks, oyster beds, jetties, channels, and deeper holes where they feed along the bottom.
HOW WE CATCH THEM
We use a variety of techniques depending on conditions, but these are our go-to methods:
- Fishing live or dead shrimp near structure
- Bottom fishing around bridges and docks
- Targeting oyster beds and channel edges
- Using natural baits on the bottom
Captain's Tip
“Big Black Drum love structure and aren’t afraid to use their weight against you. Once they’re hooked, stay patient and let the rod do the work.”
Capt. Justin Walker
