KING MACKEREL

WHERE WE FIND THEM
King Mackerel are commonly found around nearshore reefs, wrecks, bait schools, and offshore structure. Around Orange Beach, they’re often found where large concentrations of baitfish gather.
HOW WE CATCH THEM
We use a variety of techniques depending on conditions, but these are our go-to methods:
- Slow trolling live bait
- Trolling spoons and artificial lures
- Fishing around bait schools and structure
- Drifting live baits near reefs and wrecks
Captain's Tip
“A lot of King Mackerel fishing comes down to finding the bait. If the bait is there, the kings usually aren’t far behind.”
Capt. Justin Walker
