Swordfish
LORD OF THE DEEP
Swordfish are among the most unique offshore species found in the Gulf. Known for their size, strength, and deep-water habitat, these predators offer a completely different challenge than traditional offshore fishing around Orange Beach.

WHERE WE FIND THEM
Swordfish spend much of their lives in the deep offshore waters of the Gulf, often holding hundreds or even thousands of feet below the surface. Around Orange Beach, they are typically targeted on extended offshore trips in areas with deep water, strong currents, and productive bottom structure.
HOW WE CATCH THEM
We use a variety of techniques depending on conditions, but these are our go-to methods:
- Deep dropping large natural baits
- Daytime deep-dropping techniques
- Fishing specialized deep-water rigs
- Targeting productive offshore currents and structure
Captain's Tip
“Swordfish don’t give away many clues. Sometimes the hardest part is staying patient long enough for the opportunity to come.”
Capt. Justin Walker
